Abstract

A study was made of the crystalline structure of α, μ-bis-(4-methacryloxyethyl carbamate toluylene-2-carbamic) esters of oligoethylene glycols of different molecular weights and crosslinked polymers therefrom. The first members of oligomer homologues are crystalline substances with a molecular lattice typical of individual compounds. Oligomers with M n ⩽1200 are amorphous. All polymers prepared from oligomers with M n ⩽1200 are amorphous. Both oligomers and polymers with a dimension of the oligomer unit corresponding to M n ⩾2000 ( n ⩾60) form crystals with structures similar to the structural group of the initial oligoethylene glycols. Crystallinity in both cases increases with the dimension of the oligomer unit and reaches a limiting value when M n ⩾3600 ( n ⩾60).
