Abstract

The concept of conflict resolution rests today on an impressive body of literature because of the serious consequences of conflicts in societies. In recent years, states have been faced with serious conflicts, ranging from strikes to armed conflicts. This has prompted various stakeholders including international organizations, state entities and non-governmental organizations to engage in systematic means of resolving these disputes. Sadly, despite the many measures taken to address conflicts, they continue to emerge and many of them turn violent. The crisis that has plagued the two English speaking regions of Cameroon (popularly called the “Anglophone crisis”) has brought about unanticipated deaths and disaster in the country. Although many steps have been taken to address the problem, it is still persistent. This paper utilizes a doctrinal study to arrive at the finding that addressing the root cause of the conflict, and considering the relevance of culture and religion in conflict resolution would increases the chances of resolving the conflict.
