It was of interest to note that IMS-reconstituted worms incubated in SAP lost their ability to bind FB (group 12), perhaps indicating that the surface-bound SAP molecules sterically precluded bacterial binding. These data lend support to the working hypothesis that adult male schistosomes adsorb whatever immunoglobulins are available in the circulatory system at any given time and lend credence to the concept of a dynamic equilibrium between the parasite and the host at their interface.
