Solitary waves in a diatomic lattice: analytic approximations for a wide range of speeds by quasi-continuum methods

We extend the quasi-continuum method of approximation to find waves of general speed in a diatomic lattice. Our results include as a special case the one speed which previous methods have found; we find the shape of nonlinear waves of arbitrary velocity up to some maximum speed.
