Abstract
- Herpes simplex virus expresses proteins modulating the process of apoptosis, and the viral US3 gene encodes a unique serine/threonine kinase that protects infected cells from apoptosis. Here, we discuss the biological roles of the US3 protein kinase and the mechanism by which this kinase blocks apoptosis.
