A test of p-4He phase shifts between 2 and 9 MeV

Abstract

Existing phase shift solutions for p- 4 He elastic scattering have been tested experimentally. The angle where the proton analyzing power crosses zero has been measured at several energies between 3.5 and 8.9 MeV. In a separate experiment, the ratio of the cross sections at 169° and 104° c.m. has been measured with an accuracy of ± 1.0 % for energies between 2.2 and 5.9 MeV. Of the four energy-dependent phase shift solutions recently reported in the literature, two show large discrepancies with the measurements.
