Abstract

Typical parameters for an electron beam generated by a laser plasma accelerator pose significant challenges for conventional transport. Numerous factors related to divergence, energy spread and space charge can lead to intolerable emittance growth. We discuss here a novel beamline configuration utilizing an active plasma lens that will be implemented in upcoming experiments aimed at demonstrating the delivery of 100–300 MeV beams which can be matched to external focusing channels with minimal emittance growth.
