Abstract
- With the recent shift towards human centric lighting and the built environment, the Extra Low Voltage DC (ELVDC) power distribution system suitable for high-rise building with LED lighting loads is discussed in this paper. A driverless ELVDC LED lighting system is proposed and its relevant centralized dimming scheme is discussed in this paper. Mathematical modeling of individual LED lighting is presented and compared for the different ELVDC LED lighting driverless topologies. System level efficiency and cost benefit analysis against the conventional AC distributed and its counterpart ELVDC distributed LED lighting system are presented. A driverless ELVDC LED lighting system is cost effective for a high-rise built environment.
