Abstract: Analgesic consumption is highly prevalent in Germany. About 1.9 million people consume analgesics daily; around 1.6 million engage in addictive use. Analgesic consumption also seems to be widespread in sports. We aim to quantify the degree of analgesic consumption in sports on the basis of a systematic literature review.
