Abstract
- We present partial density of states measurements for the occupied electronic levels around oxygen, strontium and bismuth in Bi2Sr2CaCu3O8. The data were obtained using soft X-ray emission. We find that the oxygen 2p density of states peaks 4.7eV below EF and is roughly symmetric in appearance. We also observe a p-type density of states around the strontium sites centered near 5.3eV below EF. States of d-type symmetry are observed around the bismuth near the binding energy of the bismuth 6s level. We compare the measurements with calculations that have been presented in the literature and with published photoemission results.
