Abstract

Advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs) are thought to play a role in the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD), especially among individuals with T2DM. Certain AGEs, like pentosidine, form cross-links between proteins within the arterial wall, which may lead to arterial stiffening, and subsequently, an increased CVD risk.
