Influence of empathy and Theory of Mind on film-based mood induction

Films are one of the most widely used tools in mood induction procedures (MIPs). However, there is a large variation in the effect sizes, and individuals watching the same clip targetting a specific emotion often report feeling varying emotions as well. This study is aimed at examining the influence of empathy and Theory of Mind -- specifically the cognitive, affective and mixed routes -- on mood induction involving clips aimed at eliciting anger, disgust, sadness and fear.
