Abstract
- A split step finite difference (SSFD) algorithm based on the Crank-Nicholson implicit scheme for high-energy pulse propagation in long-distance optical fibers is presented. The big difference from the conventional finite difference (FD) is that SSFDs do not directly discretize the second nonlinear effects terms of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE). The numerical results illustrate that the SSFD is a robust and fast algorithm.
