Computer simulation of a nematic guest‐host display

The steady state electro‐optical behavior of a dichroic type of display cell using a nematic mixture with positive dielectric anisotropy is considered. This study makes use of a mathematical simulation method. Numerical results obtained from this method are in very good agreement with experiment. The effect of physical and technological parameters of the system on the form of the transmission‐voltage characteristic is studied and in particular the slope of this characteristic in the neighborhood of the threshold voltage. The role played by the twist angle is especially considered.
