Synthesis and characterization of some CoII, NiII, Cull and PdII complexes with 2-phenylbenzimidazole

Science College, Darbhanga-846 004, Bihar, India Department of Chemistry, Patna University, Patna-800 001, Bihar, India Manuscript received 16 March 2009, revised 18 February 2010, accepted 29 March 2010 Complexes of 2-phenylbenzimidazole (L) with CoII , NiII, CuII and Pdll of composition [ML2X2]( M= CoII,NiII, CuII and PdIIand X - Cl, Br or NCS ) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, infrared, electronic and EPR spectral data, The electronic, IR spectral data and magnetic properties suggest pseudotetrahedral structure for CoII and Nill, distorted octahedral for Cull and planar geometry for PdII complexes.
