Influence of shading on the growth of ‘Folha Murcha’ orange tree

The system of production of certified seedlings demand studies on the behavior of plants in different levels of shading. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different levels of shading on the growth of ‘Folha Murcha’ orange grafted on the Rangpur lemon rootstock. The design was completely randomized with treatment consisting of four levels of shading (0%, 30%, 50%, e 80%), with six replications and one plant per plot. At 145 days after grafting the diameter of the rootstock, the graft diameter and height, leaf number, leaf area and shoot dry mass were evaluated. Graft height and leaf number were not influenced by the different levels of shading but the other plant characteristics were. According to the results, higher growth of seedling of ‘Folha Murcha’ variety grafted on Rangpur Lemon occurs in the absence of shading. The 80% of shading treatment influenced negatively the plant growth.
O sistema de produção de mudas certificadas carece de estudos sobre o comportamento das plantas em diferentes níveis de sombreamento. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o crescimento de mudas de laranjeira ‘Folha Murcha’ enxertada sobre o porta-enxerto limoeiro ‘Cravo’ em diferentes níveis sombreamentos. O delineamento foi inteiramente casualizado com tratamento constituído de quatro níveis de sombreamento (0%, 30%, 50% e 80%), com seis repetições e uma planta por parcela. Aos 145 dias após a enxertia, avaliou-se o diâmetro do porta-enxerto, o diâmetro do enxerto, a altura do enxerto, o número de folhas, a área foliar e a massa seca da parte aérea. A altura da planta e o número de folhas não foram influenciados pelos diferentes níveis de sombreamento, mas as outras características foram. O maior crescimento das mudas da variedade ‘Folha Murcha’ enxertada em limoeiro ‘Cravo’ ocorre na ausência de sombreamento. O tratamento 80% de sombreamento influenciou de maneira negativa no crescimento da mudas.
