Abstract

Bauhinia ungulata Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 374. 1753. "Habitat in America." RCN: 2950. Lectotype (Wunderlin in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 466. 1997): Herb. Clifford: 157, Bauhinia 3 (BM-000558715). Current name: Bauhinia ungulata L. (Fabaceae: Caesalpinioideae). Note: Wunderlin (in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 63: 349. 1976; 70: 124. 1983) indicated an unseen Miller specimen at BM as the lectotype, but this cannot be regarded as original material because Linnaeus did not study these specimens.<br />Published as part of Jarvis, Charlie, 2007, Chapter 7: Linnaean Plant Names and their Types (part B), pp. 343-369 in Order out of Chaos.
