Abstract

The purpose of the work mission was to carry out technical and scientific cooperation with researchers from the Center for Automation and Robotics (CAR-CSIC), which is linked to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC, Spanish National Research Council, https://www.csic.es) and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Madrid, Spain). CSIC promotes, coordinates, develops and disseminates scientific and technological research with a multidisciplinary character, in order to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and economic, social and cultural development, as well as to train personnel and evaluate public and private rights in these fields. CSIC is the largest public multidisciplinary research organization in Spain. It has a staff of more than 10,000, including 3,202 scientists and some 3,802 researchers. CSIC has 116 institutes or centers distributed throughout Spain. There is also a delegation in Brussels. CSIC has considerable experience in R&D projects and training people. CAR-CSIC has an excellent infrastructure, including high-speed Internet access, robotics, electronics, mechanical and machining laboratories, and autonomous vehicle test tracks. CAR's facilities are ample, in an extremely pleasant environment, with the hospitality and cordiality of the researchers, technicians and students. During the visit Prof. Adriano de Oliveira Andrade presented the research conducted by the Center for Innovation and Technological Assessment in Health (NIATS, http://www.niats.feelt.ufu.br) at UFU, and interacted mainly with researchers from CSIC-CAR (Centre for Automation and Robotics - https://www.car.upm-csic.es), who have complementary research to that developed at NIATS. The research of interest of both groups is related to the development and evaluation of technologies for people with Parkinson's disease and other neuro-motor disorders. As initial results of the work mission at CSIC we had: (i) the sharing of research data carried out by CSIC, in the context of European Union projects, so that UFU students can perform high-impact work and together with SCIC researchers; (ii) the sharing of CSIC devices so that Brazilian students can perform data collection in Brazil; (iii) the publication of articles in conjunction with researchers from Spain.
