Studies in Aryne Chemistry : Part I. Reaction of Dehydrobenzene with Phenols

Benzenediazonium-2-carboxylate on treatment in neutral media with phenol afforded biphenyl and biphenyl ether. With cresols it gave biphenyl, corresponding biphenyl ethers and benzcoumarins.
