In each of his seven operas, Pascal Dusapin has explored the genre’s various ramifications, finding inspiration both in the work of his contemporaries and in ancestral myths, dealing with different musical arrangements—chamber and large-scale opera—initiating and practicing numerous artistic collaborations. His motivations and his very personal approach to text, voice, and music, shed light on the preeminence of the score, which frees all other parameters engaged in the complex assembling that constitutes lyrical art.
