Abstract

There are numerous radar cross section (RCS) estimation techniques each of which suggests its advantages and disadvantages. Geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD) is a powerful high frequency method that explains scattering from electrically large bodies. In this paper, geometrical theory of diffraction and equivalent currents (EC) methods are used to analyze the echo area of an aircraft model in X-band. The fast multiple method of FEKO software is used to compare the results. It is observed that the proposed method yields accurate results in a remarkably less runtime and computer memory than the numerical counterpart. So it is suggested for electrically large bodies having no fine features
