Unstable angina and non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (MI) accounted for 1,433,000 hospitalizations in the U.S. in 1996 [(1)][1]. Nearly 60% of those with unstable angina were >65 years and 46% were women. Women comprise a larger proportion of the unstable angina population than of the MI
