Abstract
- We report that mammalian tissues posses hypotaurine (2-aminoethane- sulfinate) aminotransferase activity. One product of transamination, sulfinoacetaldehyde could theoretically undergo internal oxidation-reduction leading to isethionate (2-hydroxyethanesulfonate). This hypothesis was examined. No isethionate was formed in vitro .
