Abstract

This database compiles over 1000 entries on pore solution compositions of cementitious systems, from early ages to years. The data were obtained through a literature review of 58 studies published between 1981 and 2021. Systems include a diversity of cementitious materials (mainly Portland cement mixed with silica fume, fly ash, slag, and fillers), mix proportioning, curing conditions, carbonation, experimental extraction procedures, and analytical techniques employed on pore solution characterization. The ionic concentrations reported are on OH-, Na+, K+, Ca2+, sulfur species, eventual minor ions, measured and calculated pHs, and ionic strength. Thus, the database is a comprehensive source of information on the ionic concentration of the concrete pore solution, summarized in a single file. It can support the investigation of these features’ influence on the solution, clarifying trends in literature based on diversified data. A detailed interpretation of the data and its possibilities is provided in an article published in Cement and Concrete Research. There, part of the database was applied to train Machine Learning models for predicting the pore solution composition of hardened cementitious systems. Furthermore, these data can support research on deteriorative processes in concrete, considering the relevance of pore solution composition on corrosion processes, alkali-aggregate reaction, sulfate attack, and others.
