Söğüt Çelebi Mehmed Camii Kütüphanesi: Banisi, Kuruluşu ve Dönemi İçin Anlamı

Bu makale, on dokuzuncu yüzyılın ikinci yarısında Söğüt’te sultan veya devlet adamları tarafından değil de “halk”tan biri tarafından kurulan Çelebi Mehmed Camii Kütüphanesi'ni incelemektedir.Söz konusu kütüphane, halk/cemaat kütüphanesi özellikleri taşıdığından özgün bir örnek olarak Osmanlı kütüphaneleri ve kitap kültürü literatürüne bir katkı sağlayacak niteliktedir. Çalışma, halkın faydası için inşa edilen bu kütüphanenin bürokratik açıdan kuruluş aşamalarını, bu sürecin resmî yollardan yürütülmesinin arkasındaki sebepleri ve kütüphanenin devrin yerel ağları içerisinde konumunu tartışmaktadır. Bunu ise şimdiye kadar göz ardı edilen arşiv belgeleri ışığında ele almaktadır. Bu asıl amaçlara ilaveten söz konusu kütüphanenin kurucusu olan Hacı Ali Efendi ve mensubu olduğu aile hakkında ortaya çıkan malumat da bu makalede değerlendirilmiştir. Söğüt Çelebi Mehmed Mosque Library: Its Founder, Foundation, and Significance for the Period This article examines the Çelebi Mehmed Mosque Library, which was founded by an ordinary figure, rather than a sultan or statesmen, in Söğüt in the second half of the nineteenth century. Since the library in question has the characteristics of a public/congregation library, it serves as an original example contributing to the literature on Ottoman libraries and book culture. This study discusses the bureaucratic stages of the library’s foundation, which was built for the benefit of the public, the reasons behind the official execution of this process, and the position of the library within the local networks of the period. Yet, it deals with this in the light of hitherto neglected archival documents. In addition to these main purposes, this article evaluates emerging information regarding Hacı Ali Efendi, the founder of the said library, and his family.
