Abstract
- 4 pages, 2 figures, 1 table, 1 scheme.-- Printed version published Sep 2, 2002.
A unique diterpene 1, was isolated from the altiplane Andean plant Azorella madreporica Clos (Apiaceae). The structure and stereochemistry were established by spectral methods and molecular mechanics calculations. The compound possesses a novel hydrocarbon skeleton for which we suggest the name madreporane.
The structure and stereochemistry for madreporanone are described.
This work was supported by the Ministerio de Ciencia y Tecnología (MCYT, Spain), FEDER (EU), FONDECYT: 1011068 (Chile), Subdirección General de Cooperación Internacional, Program of Cooperation between the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC, Spain) and CONICYT (Chile), and DI of the Universidad de Antofagasta.
