Abstract

Chaetosogonocephus ruficollis nov.sp. (Figs 20 and 108) T y p e m a t e r i a l Holotype, Sabah, Danum Valley, B.R.L., f.i.t., 14-16.II.2007, G. de Rougemont leg. (CROU). D e s c r i p t i o n: Length 3.63 mm. Body shiny, reddish, head and pronotum yellowish-red, antennae brown with the two basal antennomeres and the base of third yellowish-red, legs reddish. Second antennomere shorter than the first, third longer than the second, fourth to tenth transverse, eleventh as long as the three preceding antennomeres taken together. Eyes very large in dorsal view. Body devoid of reticulation. Head devoid of puncturation or granulation, except a large puncture near the posterior margin of each eye. Puncturation of the pronotum evident. Granulation of elytra fine and salient. Free abdominal tergites impunctate and devoid of granulation. Female fifth free tergite with striae along the whole posterior margin, female sixth free tergite strongly punctate. C o m p a r a t i v e n o t e s: The antennae and the spermatheca of the new species are similar to those of C. borneensis PACE, 2008 also from Borneo. The new species differs in the greater length of the spermatheca, (0.24 mm; in C. borneensis 0.15 mm), and in the proximal portion of the spermatheca forming a complete coil, whereas in C. borneensis the corresponding coil is incomplete.
