Abstract

Stack effect in a building depends on the difference in the temperatures of inside and outside air and the height of a building. The influence of stack effect is significant, particularly in tall buildings, during the winter seasons. This Digest describes the distribution of the total pressure difference caused by stack action across a building enclosure and interior separations and the many implications of the resulting air flow patterns.<br />Canadian Building Digest, CBD-104
