Abstract
- In a previous study, about 10 per cent of patients with regional enteritis were found to be deficient in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD). In the present study, enzymatic assay was performed in 69 patients with regional enteritis and 49 patients with ulcerative colitis. No examples of G-6-PD deficiency were found, so that it is concluded that G-6-PD deficiency is unlikely to be an etiologic factor in either of these diseases.
