Abstract
- 5th International Conference on Aluminium Alloys - Their Physical and Mechanical Properties (ICAA5), GRENOBLE, FRANCE, JUL 01-05, 1996; International audience; Due to enhanced mechanical and corrosion resistance properties, aluminum alloy 6056 T6 might substitute for commonly used 2024 alloy in the manufacturing of aircraft fuselage skins. To understand the mechanical properties of this precipitation hardening alloy, tensile tests, HRTEM analysis and TEM in situ straining technique are used. The variation of the flow stress with temperature is first investigated. Then, the morphologies of the precipitates promoted by the T6 thermal treatment are analysed. Finally, few in situ straining experiments are presented. They show how dislocations interact with precipitates under controlled conditions of load and temperature.
