Abstract
- SIROLIMUS (SRL) is a new, potent immunosuppressive drug with a toxicity profile that differs from cyclosporine (CsA) and tacrolimus. SRL seems not to cause the nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity commonly associated with the calcineurin inhibitors CsA and tacrolimus. However, SRL treatment has been associated with hyperlipidemia. In this study, we present a detailed account on the serum lipid levels in renal transplant patients treated with SRL.
