Abstract

Ultraviolet energy of 360nm wavelength required to elicit threshold erythema varied from 1200–4000 mj/cm2 in three patients sensitive to 4'5-dibromsalicylanilide after bathing with the offending salicylanilide-containing soap. Calculations based on these values, previously determined action spectra, and representative solar emission spectra indicate a greatly shortened reaction time of sensitive patients in sunlight.
