Diagnosis. Both sexes with general color of body and appendages blackish, except base of rostrum yellowish brown. Pronotum with posterior angle terminating in a process (similar to Fig. 3 F, but slightly more developed). Forewing with a basal white macula, not starting from humeral angle and ending at posterior margin of pronotum; on apex a large oval white macula, almost reaching posterior margin of wings (Fig. 13 C). Male hind femur with a row of small teeth on inner surface, absent in female. Male without projections on abdominal sternite VII, but with a strong gibosity on each side of the posterior margin of this segment. Male proctiger without dorsal elevation. Paramere anteriorly notched on dorsal surface, with rounded apex. Discussion. Described from the macropterous form, and previously recorded only from the type locality in Pará State. It is herein recorded for the first time from Rondônia. Spangler (1989) mentions that P. biae is similar to P. platensis (Berg, 1883) (Fig. 19 A) and P. williamsi (Hungerford, 1930) (Figs 19 C–D). However, they can be readily distinguished by body color, shape of forewing maculae, posterior angle of pronotum, and male abdominal sternite VII. Type-material examined. Holotype: Brazil, Pará: macropterous male (MZUSP), Altamira, Rio Xingu, 03º 39 ’S / 52 º 22 ’W, 10.X. 1986, (P.J. Spangler & O. Flint). Paratypes: 6 macropterous males, 6 macropterous females (MZUSP), 1 macropterous male, 1 macropterous female (INPA), same data as holotype. Additional material examined. Brazil, Rondônia: 1 macropterous male, 1 macropterous female (MZUSP), Costa Marques, 12 º 26 ’ 42 ”S / 64 º 13 ’ 38 ”W, Forte Príncipe da Beira, 19.XI–03.XII. 1967, (G.R.
