- Gulf of Mexico cold seeps characterized by variable compositions and magnitudes of hydrocarbon seepage were sampled in order to investigate the effects of natural oils, methane, and non-methane hydrocarbons on microbial activity, diversity, and distribution in seafloor sediments.
