Comparison of long-term clinical outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention for chronic total occlusion between patients with and without diabetes mellitus: a single-center retrospective observational study

Abstract
- BACKGROUND The prognosis of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for chronic total occlusion (CTO) between patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and those without DM is unknown. This study aimed to investigate whether DM has adverse effects on CTO PCI patients. METHODS This single-center retrospective study included consecutive patients who underwent PCI for CTO at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital (Beijing, China) between January 2016 and April 2019. The clinical outcomes during follow-up were compared between patients with DM and those without DM. RESULTS The analysis included 187 patients (152 males) aged 62.6±11.5 years.
