Abstract
- Xu et al. (2020) suggest that salivary glands are a potential target of severe acute respiratory syndrome–coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, since the expression of angiotensin I–converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), the receptor needed for virus entry into host cells, was higher in salivary glands as compared with lung when the GTEx portal was queried.
