Abstract
- Adverse hemodynamic responses to exercise in patients with hypertension, despite antihypertensive medication, indicate a sustained cardiovascular risk. The efficacy of dietary nitrate to improve limb vascular conductance during exercise was inversely dependent on the magnitude of exercising limb vascular conductance at baseline, rather than antihypertensive medication status. The effects of dietary nitrate on hemodynamics during exercise in patients with hypertension are dependent on the values at baseline and independent of antihypertensive medication status.
