Abstract

In line with the topic of this seminar, my purpose in the present paper is to present an overview of new trends in research on the history of science in Russia. Within the limits of the social history of science I will concentrate on an approach that is now being developed in the history of science, the one that to me seems the most promising. I examine this approach as it applies to Russian science, using those episodes from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries that are closest to my own research. I will deal exclusively with topics of current interest: those where the gathering of archival materials, collection of oral history, exploration of issues, and exposition of new hypotheses are ongoing.1
