Abstract
- We report the discovery of three X-ray sources within the radio shell G318.2+0.1, one of which may be extended. Two of the sources were detected during the \sax Galactic Plane Survey and one was found in archival \ros data. The fainter \sax source is coincident with an ultra-compact galactic H {\sc ii} region, and we discuss the possibility that it can be a flaring young stellar object, while the other \sax source has no obvious counterpart. The PSPC source is consistent with emission from a foreground star. The hard spectrum of the brighter \sax source is consistent with a non-thermal origin, although a thermal nature cannot be formally excluded. If this source is associated with G318.2+0.1, then its hard spectrum suggests that it may be site of non-thermal electron acceleration.<br />Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures, accepted for publication in A&A, abstract was hidden, now it is OK
