Abstract

Solea solea (Linnaeus 1758) ���Common sole Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Solea vulgaris aegyptiaca Chabanaud by Mouneimn�� (1977: 66); subsequently recorded as Solea vulgaris aegyptiaca Chabanaud 1927 by Mouneimn�� (2002: 238). Material in collection: SMNS and USNM (as S. vulgaris). Distribution. Western Baltic Sea, North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Sea of Marmara, Black Sea, eastern Atlantic: Norway to Senegal including Madeira, Canary and? Cape Verde Islands. Conservation. IUCN: Global (DD: 15 July 2014); Med. (LC: 29 February 2008). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Very rare. Low priority for conservation action.
