Abstract
- The capacitive network representation of voids in electric power cables has long been used for the study of the transients generated by a breakdown in an enclosed void. As an alternative to the capacitive representation of the void, the induced charge concept has been introduced by Pedersen and his colleagues. This work examines the induced charge concept from an electrostatic point of view and from measured transients in relation to the change in the capacitance of the system by opposing Pedersen's views.
