Abstract
- Supplementary Table 2: Lithostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, sea level history, and time-series geochemistry of the composite section constructed from the Sjol and Charlie Sorenson cores, North Dakota, USA. We provide high-resolution geochemistry data for two cores (Sjol and Charlie Sorenson) from the Bakken Shale, Williston Basin, USA. Black shale samples were collected every 6 inches from the Lower and Upper Bakken Shale formations. The samples were analyzed for Fe, Mo, V, U, Zn, Re, and Hg concentrations by the commercial laboratory Bureau Veritas. Samples were also analyzed for total organic carbon (TOC), total nitrogen, and pyrite sulphur concentrations, as well as organic carbon, nitrogen, and pyrite sulphur isotopes at the University of Maryland. Sequential iron extractions for iron speciation were performed at George Mason University, with solutions analyzed for iron concentrations at the University of Maryland. Fresh intact samples are kept at Equinor USA and George Mason University under the supervision of Dr. Swapan Sahoo and Dr. Geoffrey Gilleaudeau, respectively. Supplementary Table 3: Global literature data compilation of Late Devonian shales. We provide a literature data compilation of black shales deposited during the Annulata, Dasberg, and Hangenberg biotic events. This includes TOC, Mo, V, U, and Hg concentrations. We provide full detailed raw data, as well as a summary table with statistical summaries.
