Abstract: Biodegradable polymers are often used as scaffolds for tissue engineering and these polymers are in class IV under the revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Law. From the point of view of safety and efficacy, recent problems in the development of tissue-engineered products using biodegradable polymers are summarized in this report.
