2,5-Anhydro-L-idose, a product of the acid hydrolysis of 1,2-O-isopropylidene-5, 6-anhydro-alpha-D-glucofuranose

The mild acid hydrolysis of 1,2-O-isopropylidene-5,6-anhydro-α- d -glucofuranose has been found to yield, in addition to d -glucose, the new anhydro sugar, 2,5-anhydro- l -idose. The identification of this substance has been described and its properties have been compared with those of some other anhydro sugars.
