MAP Position Paper (Bulgaria, Sofia) - Social dimension of rural areas

The Position Paper was developed by the SHERPA Multi-Actor Platform (MAP) based in Sofia, Bulgaria. In this paper, it discusses several key elements at the basis of the social dimension in rural areas of Bulgaria, with a particular attention to social infrastructure. Having in mind the broadness of the concept for the social infrastructure, this Position Paper opted to prioritize and focus on few key elements that nowadays really matters and determine the rural development: health care, education system, social cares and administrative services. The Paper underlines that social infrastructure in rural areas lags behind the same in urban areas and some of the cause for it is the limited public funding.
