Abstract
- The use of solid particles as a catalyst in a certain reaction system results in emergence of heterogeneous catalysis. More active catalyst is obtained by resizing the particles up to nanodimension. Nanocatalysts are the most active catalysts considering minimal size which gives maximal activity. Main drawbacks of nanocatalysis will be presented in this chapter through synthesis, characterization, and activity-selectivity relations. Special attention is given to catalysts for application in environmental protection and photocatalytic hydrogen production.
