Abstract

). The papules onthe medial aspect of the foot coalesced into an exfoliatingplaque, revealing normal-appearing, nonedematous un-derlying skin. Many of the peripheral papules were yel-low. The results of potassium hydroxide microscopic ex-amination, fungal culture, and Gram stain of minced skinfragments were negative. A guaiac screen of minced skinfragments was negative for occult blood. The total serumbilirubin level was 397 µmol/L (23.2 mg/dL) (referencerange, 1.7-20.5 µmol/L [0.1-1.2 mg/dL]).Fragments of exfoliated, lesional skin were stainedwith hematoxylin-eosin (
