Abstract
- Thrombophlebitis of the superficial veins of the breast, also referred to as Mondor's disease, is a rare disease entity. Mondor reported the first superficial venous thrombosis of the chest wall in 1939. The major clinical manifestation is palpable and painful cord-like lesion in the breast. This condition is usually a benign, self-limiting process and requires only symptomatic treatment. The etiologic factors include trauma, surgery, infection, excessive physical activity, arthritis or breast carcinoma. Laboratory data are not helpful and biopsy is usually not advised. The use of grayscale and color Doppler ultrasound can aid in the diagnosis of Mondor's disease by its specific findings. Here, we present three women with Mondor's disease.
