Abstract: Highlights • Patients having COVID-19 pneumonia are at risk of venous thromboembolism. • Prophylaxis versus anticoagulation for severely ill patients is currently debated. • No specific guidelines for the management of severe pulmonary embolism exist. • Endovascular pulmonary embolism therapy may play a critical role in severe COVID-19.
