Abstract
- A youthful and attractive face is characterized by a well-contoured, anteriorly projected cheek; with aging, this area gradually looses volume, principally because of the reduction of the malar fat pad and to a minor degree because of malar bone reabsorption. We describe an innovative technique to restore lost volume in this area using a highly cohesive, viscous hyaluronic acid volumizing filler created for facial sculpting. The result is a harmonic and natural look, because the technique respects the physiologic alterations occurring during aging. It focuses on restoring the lost volume of the malar fat pad region (Figure 1), recreating the anterior projection of the cheek without changing the lateral diameter of the face.
